DAY 12: Geranium Essential Oil

May 12, 2018 1 Comment

Geranium Essential Oil is known to be a heart oil, both physically and emotionally. But dōTERRA Geranium Essential Oil goes beyond, to also be an oil that is for the heart of humanity. Emily Right, Founding Executive of dōTERRA, spoke recently about their co-impact sourcing initiatives in both Madagascar and Kenya. She shared about the mainly women farmers in Kenya who thanks to dōTERRA’s initiatives are now land owners and earning an income through farming the Geranium used in dōTERRA's essential oil. There are currently 400 families who are benefiting from co-impact sourcing and in 2019 that will grow to 2000. Emily invited us to think about these women when we open our bottle of Geranium Essential Oil and each time I do, I take a moment to breathe into our collective heart.

Co-impact sourcing is one of the many things that I love about dōTERRA essential oils, not only are they of the highest quality, but they really are for people and our planet (which is at the essence of my dōTERRA business, The Heart Collective).

Geranium Essential Oil was one of the first oils I bought, and I use this oil every day!

Using your Geranium Essential Oil:
  • Aromatically Inhaling the sweet aroma of Geranium Essential Oil can support you to become emotionally balanced. Place one drop of oil in the palm of your hands and then rub your hands together. Then cup your hands over your nose and mouth and breathe slowly. Doing this will have a calming and grounding effect on your emotions. You can also diffuse Geranium Essential Oil to help reduce stress. Interestingly this  oil can be used to repel insects naturally! Just add a drop of Geranium Essential Oil to a cotton ball and place it in places where insects are likely to be found. You can also apply Geranium oil to your skin to keep the insects away when you are outside.
  • Topically Well I guess this could be classed as aromatic, but Geranium Essential Oil is great for body odour! You can apply under the arms (dilute with a carrier oil like Fractioned Coconut Oil to reduce any sensitivity). Geranium is also a great oil for your hair, you can add a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner bottle for a vibrant healthy glow. Adding this oil to your moisturiser will help to promote the appearance of clear skin and increase skin hydration. Speaking of skin, you can combine Geranium Essential Oil with a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil for an essensual (see what I did there?) massage. And this oil to cuts and wounds to help stop bleeding and regenerate tissue.
  • Internally Pop a drop under your tongue to support hormone balance and PMS symptoms. You can also take it in a capsule for liver, gallbladder, kidney and pancreas issues.

Geranium is the oil of love and trust.

If you are moving through heartbreak, this is a beautiful oil to support you on your emotional healing journey. Geranium Essential Oil can shift you from feeling abandoned, distrusting, unloved and grief to trusting, open, gentle and forgiving. One way you can use this oil to support you during this time is to apply to your heart with carrier oil and breathe deeply.

At its core this oil heals the heart and instils love and fosters trust, perfect for anyone healing a broken heart as a result of any kind of relationship breakdown.
