DAY 14: Juniper Berry Essential Oil

It’s day 14 of my ‘blog a day for the month of May’ series and I’m just going to take a moment to say,

Gee whiz.

Essential oils really are all kinds of amazing.
And just like essential oils, you are all so all kinds of amazing.

A few of you have been asking why you apply essential oils to the soles of your feet. So before I share today’s essential oil with you, Juniper Berry, I will briefly answer that question.

The soles of our feet (and palms of our hands) are one of the only places on our body without hair follicles or sebaceous glands that produce a substance called sebum. Sebum is an oily substance that acts as a protective shield that stops your skin from absorbing foreign materials. So applying an essential oil directly to the soles of your feet means all the goodness from that oil is going to be absorbed into your systems efficiently and effectively.

Also each of our feet have around 7000 nerve endings, so when you apply an essential oil to your feet it’s like putting the oils on a neurological superhighway to where they need to go in our bodies, pretty amazing right?!

The bottom of feet are also less prone to skin sensitivities so they are a great place to apply essential oils, especially for young ones.

So now onto our oil of the day, and yes it's one you can apply to the soles of your feet.

Tips for using Juniper Berry Essential Oil:
  • Aromatically Inhale a few drops from cupped hands or have Juniper Berry Essential Oil in your diffuser to support you in moments of stress, tension or depression. Juniper Berry mixed with Bergamot is a fantastic blend to diffuse in your home, together they create a calming atmosphere and enhance positive feelings.
  • Topically If you are experiencing symptoms of a virus you can rub this oil along your spine. Sore joints or muscles? Mix Juniper Essential Oil with a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil and rub into where it hurts. And like so many of the wonderful essential oils available to us, Juniper Berry is also a great one to apply to skin conditions such as acne or psoriasis.
  • Internally You can take in a capsule as part of your health protocol if you have high cholesterol or high blood sugar levels (remember to always read my disclaimer at the bottom of all of my ‘blog a day for the month of May’ series). You can also take capsules to support your urinary health.

Juniper Berry Essential Oil is a great oil to have with you when you are traveling as it can support you emotionally and physically!

Do you see the beauty of your light? Are you willing to journey through the night?

I am always curious when I open my ‘Emotions and Essential Oils’ book to learn about the deeper meanings of these essential oils. Juniper Berry is known as the ‘oil of the night’ and upon reading about what this meant I couldn’t help but feel we could all do with some Juniper Berry Essential Oil from time to time!

Juniper Berry is your go-to oil when you are facing your fears and looking into aspects of yourself that you have maybe kept hidden in the shadows for some time. It supports you in venturing into the ‘darker’ or less known parts within us and to do so with courage and understanding, reminding us these aspects of ourselves are not to be feared but explored.

Known as ‘the oil of the night’ Juniper Berry can be a support for you if you are struggling at night time (say with nightmares), assisting you to see things with a more balanced perspective. This oil acts as a guide on your journey to wholeness, reminding you there is nothing within you that you need to fear.
